CHILDREN’S MEDIA from 2011
Following on from its very successful pilot Lab in 2009, PAL is currently working on a second Children’s Film Lab in India. The Lab will be open to writers for children’s film from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Europe. Sign up to PAL News to receive updates.
The Children’s Film Lab in India grew out of our annual European Pygmalion programme.
The PYGMALION Story
The PYGMALION programme was founded on the conviction that, in an age of globalisation, children need to see their own particular cultures and lives reflected in audiovisual media. As digital transmission increases the accessibility of media across borders, stories which reflect national identity for children around the world are a valuable means to foster cultural diversity, dialogue and understanding.
PYGMALION began with an idea for a week-long workshop for development of live-action TV drama for children in the European Conservatoire for Writers for the Audiovisual Industry (CEEA) in Paris in 1998. PAL joined CEEA as a partner in 2002 bringing its tried and tested methodology to create PYGMALION PLUS into an annual 6-month cross-disciplinary programme with two residential workshops for script and project development of Feature Film, TV drama and animated series and Interactive projects. PYGMALION PLUS has been supported annually by the MEDIA programme of the European Union and is a flagship programme in this field.
There are many opportunities for writers, director and producers to receive professional training focused on development and production for the adult audience. Uniquely, PYGMALION consistently identified and developed exceptional talent for the child and family audience. Back to Portfolio
