July 2011 | If Not You, Who Else?

This five-month, non-residential Lab is a new venture for PAL, both in form and in focus. It is a structured collaboration between artists, young people (aged 17-30) and their chosen communities. The aim is to make great art which builds community awareness and participation and to help young people find a lasting confidence in their individual capacity to change their own lives and make a difference.

It is designed to encourage and facilitate community engagement and to equip the young people with the skills, knowledge, self-assurance and access to funding streams to undertake their own projects which will have a meaningful community benefit. Our project will also build their employability and career management skills to equip them to find further work, study or volunteering.

The initial three-day non-residential Lab was held at the Siobhan Davies Studios in July 2011. The work continues over seven further day-long Labs through to November 2011.
